Shojin

Yum!  Shojin.  It’s really good.  I don’t have a lot to say about Shojin except that it’s awesome and that you should really try as many items as possible when you go.

Of course It’s nice to order dishes gradually so you have plenty of time to draw with the markers they provide. And they have a nice variety on every table.

This is my absolute favorite dish at Shojin.  Spicy Rock Shiitake Tempura: tempura shiitake mushrooms marinated with spicy wasabi vegan mayonnaise.  Wow.  The flavors are shocking.

The sushi is wonderful as well.  I believe they only serve it with brown rice.  I do wish they had a white rice option.  The Caterpillar Roll with seiten inside and avocado on the outside is amazing regardless.

If you like to draw and you like food you know where to go.  Shojin probably ends up costing $30-$500 for two people depending on how much food you order ;)

Yes this is for real ^

Fillet-O-Kara Fish is a combination of crispy homemade veggie fish and a seitan nugget skewer served with lemony tartar and miso demi-glace sauce!.  This is really good too.

Chocolate Lava Cake with raspberry vanilla vegan ice cream.  Yummy.

Finished what next?

Movies.  This is the first time in a long time I went and saw a movie and absolutely no one else was there.  I use to be a projectionist at this theatre.  The Mann at Hollywood & Highland.  I mostly worked at the Chinese theatre next door back in 2001.

These are really cool vegan shoes I got for my birthday.  They’re Macbeth vegan shoes.  What movie are we seeing?  Up in the Air.  A little late to the game, and probably why no one else was there.

Oscar tour.  Enchanting.  And much more to see at the miraculous, incredible, unbelievable Hollywood & Highland complex.

I wanna go back to Shojin!  For more info go here http://www.theshojin.com/

Green Vegetarian

Green,  in Tempe is sincerely one of my favorite vegan restaurants.  It’s so good, inexpensive and super fun to hang out at.  My sister lives in Arizona so on my last visit I ended up going to Green three times.  And every time I got something different but I do have a few favorites.  First off you have to get the tSoynami which is essentially a vegan blizzard.  How many flavors of tSoynami do they make?   Green has their signature tSoynami list but you can of course customize at will.  Now lets get to the food.  Luckily two of the times I went to Green I was with family and friends so we got appetizers.  The crab puffs and spicy buffalo wings are awesome.  And my personal favorite sandwich is the original “g” spicy po-boy which is as simple as spicy buffalo mock chicken, lettuce, tomato and vegan mayo on an extremely fresh and tasty roll.  With a no harm parm sandwich, Meatball sub, drunken mushroom chicken bowls on the menu it’s really hard to go wrong at Green.

This is the Coffee coco loco tSoynami which = organic fair trade coffee, organic chocolate, cocoa crunch balls, vanilla ice cream.

Vegan crab puffs are an awesome starter and at 4 bucks not too shabby on the price.

The fresh drinks are excellent.  My favorite drink is to mix them all together.

This is the Monsoon tSoynami which = chocolate cake, chocolate chips, chocolate syrup, chocolate magic, and vanilla ice cream.

They have really cool restrooms.

I really love this place and everyone I know who has been here loves this place.  I highly recommend going out of your way to get here.  For more info check out the link http://www.greenvegetarian.com/

Spiral Diner Dallas

Spiral Diner in Dallas is a super fun vegan restaurant.  We really, really loved it.  Sundaes, shakes, peanut butter cups, cupcakes, sandwiches, tacos all the fun foods that aren’t always easy to find vegan.  Spiral has another location in Fort Worth for more info go here www.spiraldiner.comVegan graham crackers.  It can be very hard to find graham crackers without honey.  Well here you go.

The Chocolate Mountain Mudslide = “danger, danger! there’s been an accident on chocolate mountain! everyone grab a spoon and prepare for tastiness!” a warm brownie topped with vanilla i-scream, chocolate syrup, chocolate chips, whipped cream and peanuts.$5.75 it also equals insanely yummy!

The prices are very reasonable and the quality is awesome.  A double shot of fair trade espresso is $2.00, sandwiches range from 2.25-$8.00 and thats with a side dish.  Yes they serve a poor mans pickle sandwich for $2.25 and it comes with a side, I’ll be getting that next time I’m there.
