2 people, 20 bucks for everything. All u can eat. I love that. As many of you know Doomies is opening this weekend on Vine and Fountain. Close to Amoeba, close to the Arclight, close to where I live, on my way home from work. I can’t wait. It’s Doomies Home Cookin and you get a nice huge step away from the usual vegan restaurants available in Los Angeles.
Alix and I went to Doomies special Saturday pre-opening brunch a couple weeks ago to get a taste of whats to come. it was pretty exciting and extremely crowded. So crowded that we waited in line for a long, long time. It was worth it and lots of our friends were there to keep us company. Sadly they ran out of food quite quickly and they stopped letting new arrivals in shortly after we sat down. Luckily they took care of those who already paid up so we hung out for quite a while.
The biscuits and gravy were the first to run out.
Chimichangas, wow! I ate 3.
The French toast is awesome.
It started to become obvious they were running out of food when they started selling to go containers only. But luckily the pancakes were back out and they were delicious, really sweet and tasty. They also had breakfast burritos, a green been casserole, sweet yams and a mac & cheese style alfredo thingy, that was good too.
Here are some photos from August of 2010 when Doomies was at the now deceased Meet Market (former home of Flore Cafe, and once the legendary Vegan Spot :( R.I.P. Vegan Spot was home of the best vegan Roast Beef and Cheddar ever) anyways Doomies was serving up their epic all u can eat brunch a few months ago and that lasted for about an hour as well. We were the first ones there at 10 a.m. and they ran out of food right after we left. Which is obviously why their opening weekend on December 11th and 12th is by reservation only.
I really love the crepes. I wish there were more vegan crepes in Los Angeles. The biscuits and gravy were super good. I hope they serve all this stuff at their new location all the time.
The strawberry parfait was by far my favorite, well on top of the crepes of course.
So once again Los Angeles is blessed with another super fun vegan friendly establishment.
