Bike ride to Ojai and Vegan food at Hip

There is an amazing bike path from Ventura to Ojai. You don’t have to mess with cars, it’s an old train track converted into a bike path.  It’s beautiful, relaxing, and there are some awesome vegan options once you get to Ojai, including an awesome all vegan restaurant called Hip.  The bike ride is about 15 miles each way and you can expand the ride into the hills if you are inclined.

The best part of the ride was the fact that there is a decent section of the bike path that is shut down until the late spring of 2012.  We had to cross several fences and hike for a while, it was well worth the fun.

Here is my beautiful Rivendell Rambouillet bicycle.  It’s definitely one of the best investments I have made. Rivendell is a really cool company, their bikes aren’t cheap but they’re handmade to last a lifetime. They also sell vegan bags under the name “Brand V”. I was also able to find a vegan version of the famous Brooks Saddle. It’s not made by Brooks but it’s more comfortable and it’s currently on sale for $15, awesome.

They ride Rivendell’s as well.  Their bikes are just okay though.

I mentioned that part of the bike path was temporarily closed.  Yes we had to cross a stream.

It’s my turn to cross.

Epic Adventure.

This is the kind of sign that makes me cry with joy.

Wait, which way do I go?

Root beer floats and chocolate shakes.  This place rocks.  And there is nothing like good food after going on a bike ride.

Green drinks.

I often rearrange my food for photos.

I had the reuben which came with chips and a bowl of vegetable soup.

I love thinly sliced seitan.

They both got flat tires.  Are they rookies, is it their white tires or are they crazy off-roaders??? We’ll never know.

And on the way home we stopped at Red Brick Pizza and got a vegan pizza with Daiya cheese. The end.
